UTC GBFL Hosts Timely Webinar Delivering Expert Investment Insights Following National Budget

Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia | April 28, 2026 – The UTC Global Balanced Fund Limited (UTC GBFL) hosted the third edition of Let’s Talk Investing: A Markets Conversation, a dynamic and timely webinar on April 22, 2026, providing participants with expert guidance, just one day after the presentation of Saint Lucia’s National Budget.

The virtual session featured a panel of investment experts, including Mr. Omar Burch-Smith, Regional Collective Investment Scheme Manager; Ms. Karen Guyadeen-Gosine, Head of Investment Management; and Mr. Philip Williams, Head of Investment Research and Strategy. Together, they offered practical perspectives on how recent economic developments may influence financial planning and investment decisions.

With the National Budget fresh in focus—reported as the largest in Saint Lucia’s history and introduced without new taxes—the discussion centred on helping individuals better understand the evolving economic environment and ensuring their money continues to work effectively for them. The panel explored key themes such as strategic investing, accessing global opportunities, and preparing for what lies ahead financially.

The nearly two-hour session delivered in-depth, accessible content, covering market performance in the context of recent geopolitical developments, including global conflicts and their impact on prices and investor sentiment. Presenters emphasized the importance of research-driven investing, diversification, and understanding geopolitical risk, while reinforcing that market volatility is a normal part of the investment journey.

Mr. Philip Williams highlighted the importance of staying informed, noting that, “We look very closely at key or leading economic indicators, like economic growth. You certainly want to know what’s happening in an economy and what are the prospects for growth. You also look at the interest rate environment because that determines the cost to borrow, and those factors impact the bonds and other assets that we hold.”

The panel also underscored the value of long-term investing, encouraging participants to focus on time in the market rather than timing the market, and highlighting the potential cost of delaying investment decisions. Real-life scenarios were used throughout to make complex concepts more relatable and actionable for participants.

This webinar is part of the Let’s Talk Investing series; an initiative aligned with UTC GBFL’s core pillar of public education. Through monthly webinars, the organization aims to build financial literacy and deepen understanding of personal finance, capital markets, and investing.
